NETWORK: Share your work, connect with collaborators, trade inspiration, discover new projects & shoot the breeze with artists, writers, musicians, and multidisciplinary creatives at the Factory as you weave your artistic spirit into the unique fabric of our colorful creative community.
OPEN STUDIO: Work on your unique & beautiful thing in a relaxed & supportive environment alongside fellow artists of every creative discipline. Paint, draw, sculpt, write, publish, sing, work in any media, make a mess, make some noise, experiment; the Factory is the perfect place to let your imagination run wild & ya’ll are the perfect community to make this creative space, time & energy possible.
OPEN MIC: Put voice to your poetry. Mix up the playlist. Experiment with your song. DJ Deck + 15”Speaker + Microphone open to use &/or bring your own instrument, bring your own voice. (Keep it low-key, mid-key at most, don’t harsh the vibe please, I hear the Factory has punk & hiphop shows coming up)
OPEN BAR: Complimentary wine, water & Lonestar. BYOB friendly. Complimentary chips+salsa+queso @ 3PM. BYOTaco friendly. Taquería Fenix open on-site until 3PM.

These are guided workshops with media, tools & how-to instruction provided, what you make of the guidance is up to your imagination tho inspiration is always available upon request.

Not required for your child to stay right there tho: whether making art, hanging with you, playing outside or lounging with their device, what your kiddo gets up to is all on you

Figure drawing & painting at the Factory is a creative space where sketchbook beginners, casual illustrators & experienced artists may draw & paint the human figure from observations of a live nude model. Creating life drawings, or life studies, in a life class, has been a large element in the traditional training of artists in the Western world since the Renaissance.

Every Tuesday Figure Drawing is offered by AVAA in the morning and by Factory in the evening. On Tuesday, January 21st AVAA + Factory on 5th have partnered up & scheduled the same model to run the same pose on the same day at both locations. Everything about each location’s standard Tuesday session remains the same. Attend one or attend both, same as any Tuesday, only difference is that this Tuesday Jan 21, we’re both running the same game
$10 per session at each location.
Easels, chairs and benches are provided at each.
AVAA is located in a landmark building constructed in 1908. For art to flourish in this historic space please follow this guidance:
Oil Painters should consider low-key solvents (Gamsol, citrus thinner, odorless turpenoid) and are required to remove solvent rags at end of session.
Keep it chill by silencing phones & saving conversation for the breaks.
Smoking is not permitted on the property, smokers must cross the street.
Arrive early to pick a perfect spot before the space is full (doors open at 10:30).
Factory on 5th is located in a pink quonset hut warehouse built in 1948.
Food & Bev: Complimentary wine, water & Lonestar is available and the food truck Taqueria Fenix is open until 9PM.
Sketch pads are available to purchase and pencils, prismacolors & markers are available to borrow.
Smoking is allowed on the back patio where you can also say hello to the goldfish in the patio pond.
Doors open at 6PM & close at 11PM.
