hello beautiful muse
We currently have two opportunities for model to engage in the creative process and earn fair compensation in exchange for the grace and power of presence you bring to these creative endeavors. In both, we do not select on the basis of appearance; we select based upon the amount of creative engagement you bring along with you to influence that art making process as a collaborative participant.
Opportunity 1. Figure Drawing Model
We facilitate weekly figure drawing sessions at the Factory on 5th from 07pm-10pm. This is a safe, nonjudgmental space for experienced professional artists, casual sketchers and total beginners to hone their life drawing skills.
We pay $100 for the 3 hour session, the top rate available in Austin, offer complimentary water, wine & beer, and, of course, 100% of all gratuity. With an participant size ranging from 10-20, models typically take home $115-$120, paid on site via cash, Venmo, CashApp & Zelle.
If you are interested in modeling for our figure drawing the best way to get on the schedule is to come in for a session, see the setup, meet us and chat afterwards. If you would like to attend a session as an artist participant we'll waive the $10 suggested donation admission. Most of our models are also artists and all of our models are super dependable.

Opportunity 2. Art Photography Model
Note: Figure Drawing is an opportunity available through & payable by the Factory on 5th. Creative Photography is an opportunity available through & payable by Factory co-owner + artist RJ Armstrong.
I produce layered, multimedia works of art with a primary basis of painting that includes encaustic, acrylic, oil, and spray paint. My physical art is primarily abstract and so I rely on the production of representational images via media such as illustration, screen-printing, collage, and photography. I use photography as a source material for my physical art. The photographs that I take are extensively worked via many possible digital and physical media before a finished artwork containing the element of a photograph as part of a much larger whole is presented to the public.
Two notes on this:
1) For my own art, I don't take photographs for the purpose of presenting the original photograph to the public. Whenever possible, I prefer to work with model-muses who will use the original photographs for their own purposes because, otherwise, there is an extremely limited chance the original photograph will be viewed.
2) Because photography is a source material for my physical art and not my primary creative basis, my photography budget is secondary to my budget for the paint and other physical media required for my physical art. This limits full photoshoots completely orchestrated by myself to only once or twice a year.
With these items noted, I am always open to engage with a model-muse who can use the photographs for their own purposes and totally willing to share full creative direction because at the very least, if the shoot does not serve my art, it help keep my skills sharp considering that my own fully self-directed shoots only occur once or twice a year.
After a note about the nature of my art and style, you will find my current art photo model-muse opportunity below, including details on compensation and time. Following the current opportunity there is a selection of images curated to demonstrate the vibe you'll find in an art photoshoot with me rather than the end goal of physical work of art. To see more of the physical work of art you can find it at the the Factory on 5th ; )

Look first thing to get out of the way, I don't do glamor and my goal isn't sexy. The personal power you bring to an art photoshoot may include a healthy dose of sexy and the last thing I want to do is limit whatever type of personal power you bring to a shoot, but just so that it's said, considering everyone out there selling sexy for a buck this days, sexy for the sake of sexy ain't my aim.
Dada-Punk is my philosophy, Existential Expressionism is my art-world label, and my subject matter portrays the difficult terrain of the Postmodern Psychological Landscapes that lie far beyond the borderlands of common society. Every day I wake up with the full force of the entire universe in my face and every day I work my ass off to see how far I can go. The Factory on 5th gives me a space to generate creative income (sometimes!) while my art, shit, it's cheaper than therapy and way less hassle than organized religion. If I sell it or not I figure I'm already coming out ahead because I use art as my means of communicating with, or, more often than not, talking back to the Universe, and whatever the cost of materials, still cheaper than therapy.
If you'd like to phrase all that more simply still suffice it to say I'm a complicated as fuck artist and the art I produce ain't easy. As an artist, I'm okay with that, there are a million places to purchase pretty pictures for a dime these days but I ain't found a place yet where they sell the beautiful and difficult grist of real life lived hard and well.

THE CUT IN HALF BLUES
I thought I heard a chainsaw revving late last night
I woke this morning and I knew I was right
I knew we were in trouble, I knew she lost her head
When she started bringing all those power tools to bed
I got the cut-in-half blues
Well the last thing I saw was the big long saw I got the cut-in-half blues
I'm laying in my grave, all I do is grunt 'cause the undertaker got all mixed up and put my ass in the front I got the cut-in-half blues
Well the last thing I saw was the big long saw I got the cut-in-half blues
CUT ½ BLUES - BECK - 1994

THE CUT IN HALF BLUES is an art photo project designed to provide source material for the dense, multimedia layering of my dada-punk existential-expressionist art process. This project furthers the exploration of deep and complex psychological landscapes encountered in the fissures of Postmodern Existentialism I encounter venturing far beyond the edges of common society. Within that overall framework, this project will specifically explore the issue of pain inflicted while in the pursuit of intimacy between lovers who are “long gone out there”.
WARDROBE & PROP
This wardrobe utilizes a link & chain motif, including bonded wrists, to portray inner psychic turmoil while the shoes & props demonstrate personal self-defense mechanisms built to protect the inner self from further harm. In the case of this study, however, the inner defense mechanisms are being used upon the subject’s object of affection. The wardrobe is revealing to demonstrate vulnerability and sensuality while the props & boots demonstrate the self-defense mechanisms built out of a difficult life, while the bonded wrists illustrate how difficult it can be to put down those self-defense mechanisms even when in a place of intimacy.
REGARDING NUDITY
No undergarments are listed in the wardrobe below. The finished art that will come of this project will be shown to the general public, including minors & of these my own children will see the art that comes of this project. In particular my two little girls will see the end product. The end product of my art will never be hyper-sexualized or overtly erotic. From a place of body positivity + gender equality, there will be breasts & bum visible. From a place of privacy and my personal view on common decency, there will be no vagina visible. Regardless, I ask that no underwear is worn for this shoot because of the art process I use. These photographs will be processed + layered dozens of times with each new process using the last image, never returning to the original image. The media generation process will include various digital apps & software and will include some form of physical production, such as painting, collage, screen-printing or other physical methods of art production. Through this extended and layered process I have found that unnecessary wardrobe items, such as underwear, can build more presence in a work of art over time, whereas uncovered skin tends to blend into the overall work over time. Therefore, no underwear for this shoot.
OVERVIEW
Note: I never use the same wardrobe piece for more than one model. A wardrobe item may be used for more than one shoot with the same model but never with a different model. If no additional projects are planned using the same wardrobe item it is listed as “Model Option to Keep”. If you do not wish to keep the wardrobe item it will be donated or disposed of.
